The annual Mid-Autumn Festival in Phan Thiet City, also known as the Moon Festival, will begin at 18:00 hours on 11th September (which is the 13th August in the Lunar Calendar). The colorful annual lantern parade is known as the biggest of its kind in Vietnam. It will take place at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square and around the main streets of the Phan Thiet city center.

Approximately 2.800 students from 33 primary and secondary schools in Phan Thiet are expected to participate in this year’s festival. Each school will bring one big lantern, usually on a float, and about 70-100 small lanterns designed in accordance with the main theme of the festival.

The Opening Ceremony will include many activities, such as children performances, a statement of reasons and introduction of the participants. A letter from the President of Vietnam and the opening statement will be read, there will opening drums, and the leader of Binh Thuan province will present gifts to the children. After that official part, the procession will begin.

Recognized as “The greatest Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam,” the Phan Thiet City Mid-Autumn Festival was chosen among the official traditional cultural festivals for tourism of Binh Thuan province.

2019 itinerary of the lantern procession (about 2,9 km long):
Nguyen Tat Thanh Square – turn left on Ton Duc Thang Street – turn left on Thu Khoa Huan Street – Phu Hai crossroads – turn left on Tran Hung Dao Street – Tran Hung Dao bridge – Tran Hung Dao Street – turn right on Nguyen Du Street.
