Surroundings Alert and Situational Awareness
JELLYFISH
During the rainy season (June and July), there may be certain species of jellyfish in the ocean around the Phan Thiet area. Guests are advised to be particularly cautious of small blue or red jellyfish. Fire jellyfish may cause stinging, itching, and skin irritation upon contact.
If you are accidentally stung by a jellyfish, please follow these instructions:
1. Get out of the water immediately
2. Rinse the affected area with vinegar or lemon juice, for at least 30 seconds
3. If there are jellyfish tentacles visible, remove them carefully with a pair of tweezers
4. Soak the affected area in warm water for at least ten minutes, then notify a lifeguard or contact the Front Desk immediately for assistance from the Pandanus medical staff.
SAND FLIES
During hot weather, there may be sand flies (phlebotominae) on and near the beach. Like mosquitoes these small flies cause welts when they bite. Although quite irritating, they are not poisonous, but the welts may remain for many days. We fumigate our premises regularly, but flies may come in from surrounding areas.
We recommend that sensitive people use a locally available insect repellent, wear long sleeves at and near the beach (especially in the morning and evening hours) and increase your vitamin B intake. If you have been bitten by these pesky flies, contact our receptionist to receive free treatment for the bites at our Hibiscus Spa.
SEAWEED
Due to natural conditions and seasonal factors, seaweed occasionally drifts ashore into the beach area fronting Pandanus Resort, causing the water colour to turn brown or dark green. This is a natural, harmless, and common occurrence in tropical seas, and it does not affect the safety of swimming.
The Pandanus Resort team consistently collects seaweed and debris daily to ensure the beach remains clean, safe, and pleasant for all guests. We sincerely thank our Valued Guests for your understanding and for joining us in protecting the natural beauty of Mui Ne.
SNAKES
The Pandanus Resort is a lush tropical garden, which attracts a variety of animals that call this region of the world their home. This includes colourful tropical birds, small mammals, and various reptiles. Although most wildlife here is harmless, some venomous snakes are native to the area.
The majority of snakes at the resort are non-venomous. However, since the resort opened in 2004, three venomous snake species have been identified. While there have been cases of non-venomous snakes biting both staff and guests, only one confirmed incident involved a venomous snake. The victim in that case experienced swelling in one leg and required a hospital visit. Fortunately, there were no lasting injuries.
Given the slight possibility of encountering a venomous snake, please follow these steps if bitten:
1. Remain calm and minimise movement to slow the spread of venom.

3. Remove rings or tight items from the affected area to prevent complications from swelling.
4. Wait for the resort nurse or a staff member to assist you.
Pest Control Schedule
To maintain a clean and healthy resort environment, routine pest control treatment will be carried out every Wednesday morning at Pandanus Resort.
